One of the UK’s most pre-eminent free to list property portals, Residential People, has pledged to help alleviate some of the burdens faced by struggling agents; offering all of their premium features for free whilst the pandemic is ongoing.
In a bold move that goes beyond Residential People’s previously released statement to remain free to list indefinitely, the prop-tech firm has announced that in light of the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, the portal will now be giving away its premium features and advertising completely free of charge.
“The Coronavirus has had a drastic impact on the livelihood of estate agents and businesses across the UK,” states Residential People Sales & Managing Director, Roy Bartolo.
Roy adds: “In light of the government’s decision to announce that the services provided by estate agents are not classed as ‘essential’, the property market has effectively grounded to a halt, leaving many agents questioning their next move.
“At Residential People we are also in a similar situation and one thing that has been made clear in the last few weeks is that we all must do more in terms of supporting one another if we are to survive as an industry.”
The prop-tech portal has announced that all premium features will be available for every agency wishing to join; additionally, existing customers will have their contracts extended.
Residential People’s ‘featured property’ listing offers agents the ability to exclusively advertise within a desired location on a first come first serve basis. As well as access to the marketing suite.
There are measures in place to ensure that all agents are treated equally. “We are not in the business of favouritism – regardless of how big your brand is. Plans are already in place to extend this offer should the pandemic worsen.” adds Roy.

Roy also adds: “At the end of day agents need to do what they can to survive, the truth is that agencies must continue to adapt to an ever-changing marketplace.
“We are under no illusions that there is a necessary evil in the marketplace, but our ambitions are to change this, we realise this is a long journey.
“This does mean as an agent you need to diversify and be opportunistic to make sure you do everything you can.
“At this stage we are an alternative option to the necessary evil, yet we have plans in the near future to begin taking significant market share from the larger portals.”
Despite its infancy, Residential People has already amassed the support of over 1,600 UK high street agencies.
Roy concludes: “These are unprecedented times of hardship and we want agents to survive and make it through this.
“We would like to extend our condolences to all those affected by the Coronavirus. We also want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the people on the frontline fighting this on a day by day basis, thank you the NHS for making sure we have the best possible chance of survival.
